Adhesive residue from tape: where should you start?

Removing a label, sign or protective film does not always finish the cleaning job. A layer of adhesive or pieces of tape may remain on the surface. Before choosing a product, identify what needs removing and the underlying material. A metal component, a painted finish and a plastic surface may need different approaches.

The technical data sheet for CL 601 5 — Citrus Cleaner lists removal of adhesive residues, double-sided tape, protective films, labels and advertising materials. These are specific applications in production, maintenance and servicing. An ENYRUN video provides a practical example.

See it in action: tape, labels and adhesive residue

The video “CL 601 5 Zmywacz cytrusowy Enyrun”, published by Enyrun Group, shows application to pieces of tape and labels on a metal surface, peeling them away and wiping off residues. It demonstrates a particular cleaning result rather than relying only on the product description.

The demonstration applies to the materials and conditions shown. It does not identify the adhesive through laboratory testing or confirm the same result for every tape and substrate. Do not treat the video duration as a universal product contact time.

Which applications does the technical data sheet list?

  • Removing adhesive marks from advertising and self-adhesive materials.
  • Cleaning residues from double-sided tape, protective films and labels.
  • Removing grease, lubricant, rubber and tar contamination.
  • Cleaning tools, equipment, and paint and adhesive spraying equipment.
  • Removing forklift tyre marks from industrial floors.

The documentation lists metal surfaces, ceramics, glass, porcelain and many plastics. “Many plastics” does not mean all plastics. Likewise, a general statement about paint compatibility does not replace checking the specific coating and its cleaning instructions.

What information helps select a product for your task?

  • The substrate material and the type of paint or other coating.
  • The residue: label, tape, film, adhesive or other contamination.
  • The adhesive or tape name, if known, and how long it has been on the surface.
  • Working conditions and site restrictions on chemical use.
  • The intended result: cleaning a finished component or preparing it for another process.

The TDS states that the product leaves a protective film. If the surface will subsequently be bonded or painted, preparation for that process must be confirmed separately. Removing contamination alone does not prove that a surface is ready for a new bond or coating.

Cleaning performance and conditions for safe use

The CL 601 5 safety data sheet classifies it as an extremely flammable aerosol and identifies C7 hydrocarbons among its ingredients. We therefore do not describe it as solvent-free or as a universal substitute wherever petroleum-based cleaners are prohibited. Such selection requires checking the reason for the restriction and the specific product documentation.

Before use, read the current label and safety data sheet, including ventilation, personal protection and ignition-source requirements. The video demonstrates cleaning action; it does not replace safe-working instructions.

Ask about CL 601 5 for your application

See the CL 601 5 product page or describe the adhesive and surface in the enquiry form. This enables a discussion about your application and quotation rather than selecting by product name alone.
