Liquid Cyanoacrylate Adhesive

GL 121 is a liquid cyanoacrylate adhesive for suitable rubber, plastics, metals, ceramics and glass. Polyethylene and polypropylene are excluded. Material compatibility and preparation must be checked for the actual joint.

SETTING AND FULL STRENGTH:

Initial setting is different from reaching full strength. The detailed technical data sheet gives material-specific setting times at 22°C and 50% relative humidity: chloroprene and nitrile rubber 5–15 seconds; stretch rubber 2–5 seconds; EPDM less than 5 seconds; PVC 10–30 seconds; phenolic resins 8–15 seconds; ABS 5–6 seconds; steel, aluminium and zinc 45–55 seconds. It specifies full strength after 24 hours at 20°C.

ACTIVATOR AND MATERIAL LIMITS:

The detailed sheet requires an activator when bonding silicone and fluorinated rubbers. Do not infer that these rubbers can be bonded using the adhesive alone.
